About
Hi, I’m Michael. I am an Information Security Engineer with many years experience in Information Technology. My first computer was a Commodore C64 (1989), followed by an Amiga (1992), and finally in 1995 I got my first PC. In 1998 I installed my first Linux distribution (S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3), switched to Debian in 2002, tried a lot of BSDs and Linux distributions, but always came back to Debian Linux and OpenBSD.
Everything I code in my spare time is released as open source software. If you are interested, you can have a look at my projects here on this site or over at my own Gitea instance. I also try to document interesting things on my blog.
I also enjoy playing games on anything 8-bit (C64, Atari 2600, NES etc.), fantasy consoles (PICO-8, TIC-80) or classic Doom on PC.
You can find my 3D designs here on Printables.
I am a licensed ham radio operator and member of the DARC. My German call sign (Klasse A) is DK1MI, my US call (Extra class) is N1BSD. I am mostly interested in shortwave operation as well as working satellites but I also enjoy chatting with friends via DMR or AllStarLink.
